500 Books Before Middle School, designed for students in kindergarten - 5th grade, is the next step for young readers after they graduate from the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program. (Participation in 1000 Books Before Kindergarten is not required to join 500 Books before Middle School!)

500 Books Before Middle School challenges students to read 500 books throughout their elementary school career, while improving their reading fluency and comprehension. What books count toward 500 Books Before Middle School? All of them!  You can reread your favorites, have books read to you, listen to audiobooks, even books you read for school can be counted!  

To register click the "Register" or "Register Now" link. Choose the "Adults Signing Up Children" button on the next page. Adults register an account first and choose "Adult signing up children" from the "What program do you want to sign up for?" drop-down. Then, add children and choose "500 Books Before Middle School" for each of the children.
